New Jersey Auto Voluntary Utilization Network

For non-emergency benefits, certain goods and services may be secured through the Association’s designated Voluntary Utilization Network (“VUN”). All of the Association’s VUN partners meet the requirements of N.J.A.C. 11:3-4.8. These VUN partners provide services outlined in the Association’s DPR Plan and offer convenient locations throughout the State.

Utilizing the VUN maximizes the benefit dollars available for treatment. In addition, a thirty percent (30%) co-payment penalty shall apply if goods or services available through NJPLIGA or its designated VUN are not procured through NJPLIGA or its designated VUN. This penalty is in addition to any other policy or statutory deductible or offset, co-payment and penalty applicable under the DPR Plan. The thirty percent (30%) co-payment shall not apply to the failure to obtain laboratory testing services through the VUN. As outlined in the DPR Plan, the Association has two resources available to assist with requested services:

  • Prescription Drugs
  • Durable Medical Equipment (“DME”) with an aggregate cost or monthly rental in excess of $75, including DME supplies, prosthetics, and orthotics

  • Magnetic Resonance Imagery (“MRI”)
  • Computer Assisted Tomography Scan (“CT”)
  • Electro diagnostic tests listed in N.J.A.C.11:3-4.5(b)(1)-(3), except for needle EMG’s, H-reflex, and nerve conduction velocity (“NCV”)tests performed together by the treating physician
  • Services, equipment or accommodations provided by an Ambulatory Surgical Center
  • Laboratory testing services

In order to avoid the above-referenced penalties, please confirm that providers of goods or services recommended by your physician (or chosen on your own) are part of NJPLIGA’s VUN.
